From World War II and until 1991, the foreign policy of the United States was based on ideology and Cold War policy of containment to prevent nations from the Soviet Union leaning toward communism, founded as the first condition set by George Kennan and later used as one of the fundamental principles of the Truman Doctrine (LeCain). As this essay will argue, because of this policy in the United States pledged to fight communism all over the world and were involved in more conflicts because of personal interest, protection of self and determination defeat communism as the cause.
