Chapter # 4: Data Collection and Analysis
Introduction
The purpose of the study is to analyze the scope to which grade recovery activities at a high school located in Georgia enhanced the student's ability to gain mastery of course content standards and impacted the student's overall grade on the end of course exam and their final grade. The academic performance of students that actively participated in grade recovery at this school in the Georgia education system, as well as those that had little or no involvement in grade recovery will be extensively scrutinized in order to determine the success of the various grade recovery programs used at this particular institution.
The purpose of this chapter is to provide the results of the data analyses that were used to test the following research hypotheses:
H1.The grade recovery program at this Georgia high school will have a positive impact on student's overall success in a given course.
H0.There is no relationship between the grade recovery program at this Georgia high school and a student's overall success in a given course.
H2.The intercession program at this Georgia high school will have a constructive influence on a student's overall success in a given course.
H0.There is no relationship between the intercession program at this Georgia high school and a student's overall success in a given course.
H3.The Operation Clean Sweep program at this high school has a positive influence to a student's overall success in a given course for the 2007-2008 school years.
H0.There is no relationship between the Operation Clean Sweep program at this high school and a student's overall success in a given course.
H4.Students participating in any of the grades recovery processes at this metro Atlanta high school will show significant improvement in their final average and end of course scores.
