Introduction

This article is based upon the believers and disbelievers of God. “God” is a word rich with layers and dimensions of meaning. It is full of problems and difficulties—for religious believers as well as unbelievers—and is susceptible to many sorts of interpretation. I feel “God” is a term used to name the ultimate reality, value, and meaning for humans more often than any other in the language, but one that has also been employed frequently in thoroughly dehumanizing ways.
