Introduction

Sexual abuse among children is a type of abuse in which a child is being used for sexual stimulation by an adult. There are different forms of child sexual abuse which includes the act of pressurizing a child to engage in dirty activities, physical sexual contact and making porn movies out of these acts are all considered child sexual abuse. Sexual abuse on children can have adverse affects on an adolescent causing him or her depression, anxiety and the fear of getting victimized again in the future. Children going through such problems face many problems in their later life as the past happenings keep scaring them which de motivate them and take away all their courage to face the world and live a normal life. The prevalence of child sexual abuse in the world today is estimated at 19.7 % for females and a much lesser count of 7.9 % against males, according to a research which examined 65 studies from 22 countries. Child sexual abuse is a bizarre dilemma of our society that needs to be ended to make the future safe for the future generations to come Child sexual abuse is an alarming concern in today's world, raising several concerns from all parts of the world (U.S. Department of Health, 2007).

Discussion and Analysis

Every year thousand of children are affected by sexual abuse. More than 80,000 cases of child sexual abuse are reported annually but the concern is the number of unreported cases which aren't recorded because the child gets too scared to inform anyone about what happened. The effect of sexual abuse on children can have a devastating effect. These acts can take place anywhere, by any person or by someone completely strange. It is a universal problem which is present, in one way or another in all cultures and societies and constitutes a complex phenomenon resulting from a combination of individual, family and society. It is a traumatic experience which a victim experiences by a physically sexual attack against his or her will, which is a form of victimization in childhood, with consequences similar to those generated partially in cases of physical abuse, emotional neglect, and so on. If the victim does not receive adequate psychological treatment, the discomfort can continue even into adulthood (Bolen, 2001).
