Many public and private sector organizations in the US are working on child protection in the US. The worldwide organization in this regard is UNICEF that has laid down the child protection policy. UNICEF has been working closely with country level and regional parliamentarians to design this policy. It has also published handbooks on child trafficking (2005) and child protection (2004). The Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989) protects the children's rights and exploitation (UNICEF, 2006). This includes protection from all forms of sexual abuse that is physical, emotional, and sexual and neglect (Mitchell, 2005).
Furthermore, there are Optional Protocols to this publication on child prostitution and pornography, child trafficking, and usage of children in conflicting situations such as war. The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF), is primarily responsible for child protection in England Wales. It provides both statutory and non-statutory guidance for the local authorities working on child protection. The major agencies working around the world on child protection are Local Safeguarding Children's Boards (LSCBs), Area Child Protection Committees (ACPCs), and Child Protection Committees (CPCs) operating at the local level. The Children Act 1989 governs the child protection system in the US. The act amended through the legislation.
Analysis of Guidelines, Policies, and Procedures
Guidelines, policies, and procedures regarding the protection of children and young people directly affect the operational activities of entities dealing or are mainly concerned with the children rights protection. Early years settings and schools therefore play a considerable part in promoting or, sometimes neglecting - children's best interests. It is important to have clear policies and procedures to assure children and young people's protection in the context. In this concern, educational institutes are required to assess the background of people who are having interaction with the children and young people at these places (Lindon, 2003).
Legislation and judicial department is also having inter-linkages to the policies structure, and regulation made to protect the children and young people from unexpected event that may cause harm to them. For judicial department, it is necessary to ensure that main legislation and guidance is relevant to legal part of the US. The responsibility of everyone within the setting to be active in safeguarding and preventing is abuse or neglect. This obligation will be meeting through safer recruitment of staff or active support for children and/or young people (Hill, 2004, 59). The safeguarding commitment works together with other policies ...
