Introduction
Child care is a British term, known as the care a child receives from someone other than his/her parents. The services are typically performed in the day time, when such parents are found busy with their business or doing job somewhere, this is the reason why these child care institutions are also known as Child Daycare Institutions. The places where child care services are performed are known as Child Care Centre's, nurseries, and even the own family of the child (where the care provider comes to the home of a child to provide the services).
Child care is a broader term which also includes the early education and development of a child. Furthermore, theses child care institutions are also defined in social and cultural aspects. Some institutions run for making a profit while the rest of the institutions are not-profit and are done only for social cause (Daly, Byres, and Taylor, 2009).
These institutions, whether for-profit or non-profit, keep a highly qualified and trained staff for providing better care to the child. These care providers need to be fully trained in providing first aid to the child in emergency cases, and must also be CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) certified (Curtis, and O'Hagen, 2003).
OFSTED is the regulatory body of child care institutions in the United Kingdom. However, for the children of age under five, these institutions are divided on Domestic Premises, which are known as Daycare and Childminding (Pugh, 2003). The Childminders are those who are the registered professional and work with The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYPS). These Childminders possess the similar responsibilities of providing early education to the children as are provided in the nurseries. Usually, these childminders take care of 6 children at a time of the age under 8 years.
Structure
Even though, the child care institutions do not reflect a particular structure, but there exists a structure in the arrangement of activities, staffing, and cautious adherence to child care regulations. This structure helps in designing the roles and duties of the child care service providers. These child care institutions remain focused in adapting such structure in order to provide a better service to the children. Then there are the laws and regulations related to child care institutions which allow little room of differentiation between the for-profit and non-profit child care institutions (Jameson, and Watson, 1998).
Organization Documents
The organizational document that is mandatory for the child care institutions is the articles of incorporation. These child care institutions require the filling of such documents. This article of incorporation involves the mission, purpose, and policies of such institutions (Pugh, 2003).
Governance
For a non-profit child care centre's, the governing body would be the volunteer board. This board will be responsible for all the development and establishment of policies and procedures adhering to the laws and regulations of the child care association.
