In this paper, we shall pertain to describe the notorious criminal 'Charles Cullen'. Our main focus of discussion shall be upon the purpose and objective of analyzing and projecting the real motives behind the so-many murders that have been done by this man and that what were the determinants that compelled him to commit suicide and killings of so many people.

Like lot of social behaviours, crime is wide-ranging and it is potentially formed by a variety of factors that operate within and outside the individuals, which exist on the macro level and even on the micro level, and that have effects across various points in the life cycle of any person. Revealing that what exactly causes crime is thus an overwhelming task that benefits from various efforts to view the origins from many angles. The reason of this degree is to confine the range of thoughts on crime factor and that now lies within criminology (Newburn, 2009).

Rational Choice Theory

For this paper, we shall incorporate rational choice theory, that will better help us understand and comprehend the whereabouts of how far and wide does criminology and criminal behavior pertain to coincide with theories and assumptions. Rational Choice Theory implies a guideline, a blueprint, which is inculcated in studies for approximating social and economic behavior. For the purpose of better understanding and with the topic involved, we shall limit our focus to social behaviours only. With reference to analysis, the percentage of crimes which are associated with males is high as compare to the females as they are more exposed to the stress faced in the different periods of life. There are certain occasions when females are also involved in the crimes but the probability is quite low and the cases of female crimes in various countries are few.
