There is evident decline in the power and member of union in the last quarter of this century, there is diversified literature emerged on the revival and decline of union. As per some writers the root cause of decline in union is due to more outflow of member as compared to the inflow others contradict that labor union might be in a bad condition but they can be revived with the help of better laws, smarter union mergers and greater political actions. It is said that the labor union has fallen out so far and fast that radical changes need to be implemented to save it. If a union wants to grown, then the labor will have to refurnish themselves (Chaison, G. N. & Joseph B. R., 1991).
In the year 1998, there were sixteen million workers part of the union members of which sixteen percent where males, twelve percent were females. The blacks (almost 18%) had a higher ratio as compared to the Hispanics (12%) and whites (14%).Union membership of American industry has witnessed a rise and fall over the twentieth century. Since the decline in the share of manufacturing jobs, there was an evident decrease in the percentage of worker memberships in unions. The international competition pertaining to the low price labor and opposition of employer regarding organization of union memberships has contributed significantly to the decline. In the year 1990, there has been an increase in organizing drive of the union, particularly in industries for example state and local government or healthcare where future growth is guaranteed (Smallwood, S., 2005).
