The purpose of this case is to analyze and interpret the continuous improvement system in a cement company. This paper enlightens and explores the methods that are used by a cement company through which it can adapt the trend of continuous improvement in its system. The data accessed to construct this paper states that there is a continuous system followed by the cement company to achieve maximum customer satisfaction level. This process is in form of a continuous cycle that involves different entities that lies between the company and the end consumer. After the research conducted by company, it was revealed that customer satisfaction was declined as the deadline was not met by the company.
Due to the lack of perfection and quality in the operational process of the company the customer was not receiving the products on the agreed deadline. In order to address this issue the company revised the entire system of process. It was realized by the company that the raw material used to produce the end product was of inferior quality. It was also realized that there was no sufficient use of the raw material; nevertheless, the capacity of the company was fully utilized. After the thorough analysis company realized that they should revise the overall process of production and operations in order to improve the quality and increase brand loyalty of consumer.
Discussion and Analysis
After the in-depth study regulated by the company certain objectives were formulated. These objectives were aimed to increase the productivity of the organization through increased capacity. After critical analysis company realized that if the company buys another 2 mil grinder it would increase the capacity to an extent that company can easily meet the deadlines. The construction of the objectives and the decision made by the company was accompanied by certain questions. These questions were crucial to be answered as they involved diversified factors upon which the success of the designed objective was based. These questions were related to the method of supply, the forecasting methods used to execute operations, training and development of workforce according to the adaption of new machinery and increased capacity; employee restricted access and the maintenance process. The business management strategy used by the company at this point was DMAIC. This strategy was originally discovered by Motorola in 1986; the strategy is one of the best management strategies ever discovered as it is aimed to provide the six sigma quality (Bertels, 2003; DeFeo, Barnard, 2004).
The company decided to accumulate data in order to pin point the flaws that existed and the company; these flaws needed to be rectified in order to improve the quality provided by the company product line.
