Introduction

The main purpose of this paper is to analyze the case study and discuss the different aspects of the case study. The paper is mainly about the legal and policy context of the case study and the issues which are related to the human growth and development. The paper is also a description of the assessment and practice processes and the issues of oppression and ethics. Thus, the paper also provides different underpinning theory and models for the interventions.

Case Summary

The case is about Charlie who was in relationship with Theo. Charlie was suffering from a violent relationship and wanted to have an escape from this relationship and Theo has helped her to escape from this relationship. Thus, in their 6 years relationship they had a child named Caisey. Charlie had faced different problems during her pregnancy; therefore, she had lived at her mother's home named Mary Anne. Though, the local police and the Social Services have received the complaints against Theo that he has been involved in the domestic violence. The police have received the call outs that Theo beats Charlie, Caisey and Mary Anne. The initial investigations have found out that Charlie is suffering from the mental disorder and Theo is not involved in drinking, smoking and domestic violence. Therefore, it has been decided that the custody of Caisey is in the hands of Theo; however, Caisey is allowed to meet her mother 3 times a week under the supervision of Mary-Anne. After some days, when Caisey went to meet her mother, the police have got the complaint that Theo assaulted both Charlie and her mother Mary-Anne in front of Caisey. Therefore, the supervision of Caisey has been given to the social services. Thus, the paper is a discussion of the different aspects of this case which are mentioned below.

Legal and Policy Context

The main law which is applied in this case is the domestic violence law. The domestic violence issue is increasing in the society with a considerable rate. The rate of the complaints against the domestic violence is increasing with a huge rate. This is a very alarming situation for the UK government and the social services. Therefore, the government of United States has determined the different laws and policies against the domestic violence.

One of the legal acts is the section 10. The main emphasis of the section 10 of Homeless act is to provide shelter to all the individuals who are the victims of domestic violence and are threatened. This section is for the people who have faced any kind of violence within their families. The supplementary guidance has been provided to these people for the purpose of dealing with the increased vulnerability of domestic violence (Crawford, 2003). Thus, this act reminds the local authorities that they should check the complete vulnerability of the victim and check the level of domestic violence he is facing.
