CAPITALISM AND WOMEN

I have chosen this topic of capitalism of women as it has created many hardships for women and children. Capitalism has affected many countries as there can be seen an increase in the poverty and hunger rate. Women suffer a lot more as they are being discriminated by various issues and the conditions they are living in. The women have many duties apart from her daily tasks she has to look after her house as well. After capitalism the society changed as a result of which economy changed from agricultural to industrial. Men are considered more powerful as they had the money; excluded women from business have to sacrifice a lot due to it (Franks, 1999). Capitalist power not only made it difficult for the women to proceed their career but also conspired them to compete with men.

Modern studies

The management advice sources mentioned earlier explicitly or implicitly women to be aware of how gender-related speech practices can which can affect their progress at work. Yet, proposed “remedies” are not clear-cut and imposing them may create other problems. While some recommend women adopt the more powerful, direct speech styles stereotypical of men, others argue this is sexist will merely make women uncomfortable and self-conscious or lead to them being penalized for not conforming to recognized norms of female behavior. Another counter-argument noted comes from analysts of non-western languages who point to the similarity between women's traditionally less-direct approach to language, and the discourse elements, syntactic features, proxemics and other paralinguistic features of many non-western languages. Requiring women to change their speech patterns, even if this were possible, could mean losing the potential advantages in intercultural interactions of women's more indirect, “rambling” speech styles (Stuart, 1989)

As Anthony Giddens (1938- ), the British sociologist, voices: "Modernity's reflexivity refers to the susceptibility of most aspects of social activity, and material relations with nature, to chronic revision in the light of new information or knowledge" .And Giddens further elaborates the impact of modernity on each individual's everyday life, "Modern institutions differ from all preceding forms or social order in respect of their dynamism, the degree to which they undercut traditional habits and customs, and their global impact.

Bonger described various social institutions, such as marriage and family, and how capitalism can weaken these institutions. For example, women must marry in order to obtain social and financial security; those who are unable to attain financial security in that way may turn to prostitution. By the effects of capitalism destroying the traditional cultural values and informal social controls, and promoting hedonism and selfishness, people are no longer prevented from committing harmful acts (Albrechtsen, 2008).

Postmodernism and women

Gender is another important characteristic. Being a woman in the countries of Eastern Europe is usually associated with preferring structural explanation of poverty .Conversely, being a man is usually associated with preferring individualistic, fatalistic, and other explanations.
