ABSTRACT
This research study is an attempt to understand whether the wages of the players in the English Premier League can increase over the period of time. This research study ahs adopted a secondary as well as qualitative research in order to answer the research questions and to meet the aims and objectives of the research study. The wages of the players in the English Premier League as per the responses of the interviewees will grow on a continuous basis because as the time passes several other contexts that are capable to let the wages of the English Premier League to grow.

1.1. Background of the Study
Professional team sports leagues are classic examples of business cartels. These leagues are plagued by a host of incentive and enforcement problems that are identified in the conventional cartel literature. However, sports leagues differ from other cartels in one important and paradoxical respect.
Sports leagues are in the business of selling competition on the playing field. The special problem for sports leagues is the need to establish a degree of competitive balance on the field that is acceptable to audience. In all existing leagues, the member team franchises are located in MSAs of widely varying revenue potential. In the absence of certain policies, teams in weak drawing cities lack the profit incentives to field teams that can compete at the level that would maximize league revenues. Moreover, these policies usually done in the way of subsidies should be done in ways to pass the test of preserving public confidence in the legitimacy of the competition on the playing field (Spinanger, 1986, p. 140).
