Executive Summary

Every action in the organization is a manifestation of power which is used by both leaders and performers. Power manifests itself through the channels of power which include the power of coercion, influence, expertise, information, official conduct, credibility and authority to award. In this paper, we will be analyzing the leadership style of Steve Jobs that how it relates to theories of leadership and how it differs from different leadership styles of other leaders. It elaborates that Steve Jobs is a strong charismatic leader. As a charismatic leader, he is exceedingly inspirational, likes using stories to motivate, and his passion for perfection is inspiring. When relying on behaviors that emphasize the directive style, Steve does not hold back his thoughts about the direction of a project or someone's ideas on how to resolve a problem.

Introduction

Organizations are currently involved in the dilemma of leadership development challenges, which results in lack of management abilities that usually rob the high-potential managers of critical on-the-job experiences, depleted resources for employee development, and a rapidly aging workforce, which results in decline of experienced talent for leadership positions. In this paper, we will be discussing that this decade witnessed the demise of a successful yet unconventional leader. The death of Steve Jobs that was mourned by millions all over the world and his achievement is the envy of many corporate leaders influenced the world and Apple. As a result, we will be explaining that how Steve Jobs leadership styles does not match theories of leadership in textbooks (Schoemaker & Amit 1993: pp. 33-46). Still, he managed to command the best from his best from his staff which transcended into indisputable results.

Steve Jobs is the maker of the rebirth of Apple since his return to management in 1997 after being ousted in 1985 because of internal power struggles (Carlton 1998, pp. 5). With the launch of the iMac, iPod, and iPhone iPad, he promoted his last years several underlying trends of the markets of IT, telephony, but also music, thus fulfilling the concept of innovation by a leader (Scott et al. 1994). He was the only one responsible for making decisions and then, how well Apple can team to deal with these issues without his participation, will determine its success in the market (Stross 1993, pp. 55-69). Further, decision-making is one of the most fundamental elements of leadership and organizational behavior that will be affected by his resignation (Young 1998, pp. 19).

It's true that Jobs was the great visionary, but also he managed to instill in the people. Jobs was concerned about the future of the company, which led him to create "a kind of military organization that tends almost to the dictatorship where the secret rules apply up and down while a product focus ".
