The business under analysis is a small dining restaurant. The restaurant would be located in Chelsea, London opened under the name "Homestead". The product line would consist primarily of Chinese food, wraps and salads. The sandwiches prepared individually to order in sight. The guest at Homestead would make different decisions during the ordering process along a given production chain, and share this with the Homestead employee. The colors, in the restaurant would move in earthy natural tones. The floor would be covered with natural-colored tiles, provided the area behind the counter with a brick-red brick wallpaper. The restaurant would employee around 5 employees initially. After the commencement of operations, employee would be increased based on forecasted demand. In order to conduct initial market research, three restaurants were considered as sample, located in Chelsea, London.

Primary and Secondary Sources of Data Collection

The Primary data would be collected through Questionnaire which contains both open ended and closed ended questions (Ross 2005, pp.1). The primary respondents to the questionnaire are people dinning in restaurants located in Chelsea. The design of Questionnaire is open-ended as well as, closed ended in order to get specific data as well as, descriptive data.

An effort was made to acquire secondary data from grey literature as well as, peer-reviewed literature which was applicable to restaurants across UK and published between 2000 and 2011 in English. Grey literature includes materials or documents outside official academic channels of distribution and publication, including social discussion reports, reviews, unpublished manuscripts, information guides, thesis, government-related documents and research reports. In order to induce rigor in review, news articles or reports, and encyclopedia sources were not included because the information contained in such sources is unreliable and contain individual ideas. However, such sources are utilized were it was appropriate to use them.

A lot of literature relating to English restaurants has been produced statistical libraries. Reference list and Hand searching were also used to find appropriate grey and peer-reviewed literature. Other websites such as Google scholar were used to find additional data. Two libraries were specifically used namely Datamonitor and Euromonitor International.
