Introduction/Research Idea

The world is just suffering from a major contraction that had its roots in the crumple of the financial system in 2007, which was fuelled by cheap credit and ruthless speculation. This recession has impacted several business sectors, including automotive industry (Holweg et al, 2009, p.1). In this automotive industry come major car manufacturers like Honda, Toyota, Ford, Volkswagen, and General Motors. This research is about the comparison of Honda cars with all the other cars in the United Kingdom. News indicates that all the other car companies are trying to emerge from this recession through different strategies and plans, while the Honda has just reported an extraordinary performance in export and declared some expansion plans as well (Keegan, 2012, n.d). Based on the past successful strategies, present performance and anticipated future plans of Honda and other major companies, the idea of comparing them and coming out with the results of Honda's business operation and performance comparing to its competitors will be the main objective of this research. As this research will provide basic insights of the comparison between all the car companies, especially major ones, and the Honda car company, it can be use for academic learning as well as for business purposes.

Theory and Principles

The strategic management developed by the Honda Car Company helped it to sustain during the recession and the coalition's new home-grown strategy is struggling to manufacture growth. It has not only sustained but also reported an outstanding performance in export and reported anticipated future plans, which indicates its high strategic management during the economic turmoil. However, Honda is not only one thriving for manufacturing growth, there are other companies like Toyota, Volkswagen, Ford, and General Motors striving for future success. Honda as well as all these other companies (major competitors) keeps innovating, researching, improving, and developing in order to efficiently compete with each other and sustained successfully.

The above graph clearly indicates the top performance of Honda CR-V model throughout the year 2010-11, which indicates that company is performing quite well. Research also indicates that natural disaster has damaged Toyota, Volkswagen, and Honda production.
