The world we live in is subjected to continuous, rapid and profound changes. The changes affect organizations very evident both to the methods of work and the professional status of workers. Computerization, new technologies, etc. force an update almost immediately both as organizations and entities to structure their own purposes staff as it works. Workers are forced to adjust, to adapt their skills and experience to new requirements. Factors such as the magnitude and type of change, organizational structure, staff characteristics concerned, etc. will determine the success or failure of the change process (Church, p.26).

Blitzen Engineering Company deals with supplying automotive parts with customized specifications for car manufacturers. The company is known to provide customized quality oriented parts delivered in a shorter time span. The company has always been known to provide car components that are high in precision. The company's precision and quality has been provided by the competency level of it skilled workers in terms of knowledge, skills and ability along with aptitude. It is the due to the winning combination of its workers competency along with quality oriented processes that maintains the company's successful position. It has been highly competitive in the market and has been able to get bigger and better contracts along with attaining prestigious awards.

Blitzen's concern is its ageing employees as the average age of the employees is 53. It has around sixteen employees who are in their mid-fifties and reaching their retirement age. It is expected that in a decade's time the majority of its skilled labor would have left the company. Blitzen has realized it and knows that it might become catastrophic in the near future. Now the company is on the lookout for freshly graduated employees. It has started to attend local universities along with large scale advertisements in newspapers. HR Managers however have been disappointed with the current market position. There has been less number of graduates who meet the market criteria of having a sound knowledge. Those who do are highly prized and who are taken away by large-scale engineering companies because of higher wages or are hired into other types of organizations.
