The selected company in order to complete the report is British Petroleum. British Petroleum is the third largest energy companies across the globe. Moreover, as per their revenues in the year 2011, BP was ranked fourth in the list of largest companies in the world. Operations of the company are scattered in around 80 countries worldwide. The origin of British Petroleum lies in 1901. It was then that British entrepreneur William Knox D'Arcy received a concession from the Shah of Persia to operate yet undiscovered oil.
It took a year to Anglo-Persian Oil Company, which later becomes BP Corporation, and flourished as an extremely lucrative business entity. Director of the company was D'Arcy and served that position until his death (1917).
After the outbreak of World War I, the British government took the assets of British Petroleum, the company created by the German company that wanted to promote their products in the UK, in 1917; the State Treasury sold the English-Persian company. In this way, it takes the distribution network of 520 fuel, 535 tank cars, 1102 cars, 4 barges and 650 horses.
