Energy Australia is one of the largest electricity and natural gas retailer and suppliers. It was come in to existence in the year of 1996. It is the subsidiary of TRUenergy (owned by Hong Kong based and listed CLP group), it supplies to the core areas such as, Sydney, Newcastle, New South Wales and Central Coast. It also has the increased focus over retail supply of gas and electricity to the Victorian market and South East corner of Queensland. Energy Australia has headquarter in Sydney. George Maltabarow is the managing director of Energy Australia.
The purpose why I have selected this company is because it is the utility provider and catering the need of many cities. For providing better services to their customer it is essential for them to implement effective communication system.
The scope of this report is to highlight the significance of the communication in Energy Australia. Communication is necessary in order to manage the processes and also to increase the productivity.
I have limited this report towards the analysis of role of communication within the organization and to check out its impact over the customer satisfaction. I am going to highlight the possible issues concerned with communication and then recommend some remedies for them.
Communication can be defined as the exchange of opinions, ideas and information through any medium such as written or spoken, symbol or actions. It may be intentional or unintentional or might have involved predictable or unpredictable signals. Communication can occur in linguistic as well as non-linguistic forms, and might occur through spoken or some other modes.
Over here, we are concerned with business communication of Energy Australia, to promote the sale of their utility products in order to maximize the earning. Energy Australia utilizes many channels in order to promote their company including the use of internet, print, television, radio, and word of mouth.
Discussion
As we are aware from the fact that, “Communication is the life blood of any organization”. We can analyze it in a way such as, if we remove communication from Energy Australia, all its business activities would fall down. Communication is necessary for them to update themselves from competitors, to know demand of their product in the market etc.
We can say that, Energy Australia needs communication in order to exchange their information, make plans for short and long terms, take timely decisions, and fulfill the need of customers effectively and in efficient manner etc. Energy Australia utilizes two types of communication to increase the coordination among all their departments, or to satisfy their customers such as, Internal and External Communication. (Berger & Charles, 2009, pp. 117-119)
