Introduction

In humans, the kidneys are two small organs located near the spine in the lower back. The left kidney is slightly higher than the right kidney. They are bean-shaped, about 4 inches (10 cm) long and about 21 / 2 inches (6.4 cm) wide. (Pandulum, 12)
