Born on April 30, 1777 in Brunswick, Carl Friedrich Gauss is the child of a poor family. His father opposed his son always had a proper education to their abilities. However, when his father died in 1806, Gauss had already made an immortal work. On the opposite side, his mother Dorothea Benz and her brother, Friedrich, were instrumental in the education and subsequent career of genius. The support of his mother and uncle could with the intention of his father to keep the ignorance Gauss. So great was the affection felt for his mother Gauss which she addressed. Along with Archimedes and Newton, Gauss is certainly one of the three geniuses in the history of mathematics. His contributions in all fields were incredible mathematicians, although some of his discoveries had to wait more than a century to be assessed properly. Gauss's contributions in all fields of mathematics are invaluable: Number Theory, Astronomy, Magnetism, Geometry etc.
In February of 1792 Gauss entered the Caroline school, where he studied for three years, knowing the work of Euler, Lagrange and, above all, Newton's Principia. When he left school in October 1795 had not yet decided whether to be devoted to mathematics and philology. In 1796, a month before the age of 19, Gauss managed to build a 17-sided regular polygon with ruler and compass, as required in geometry from Greece. Some authors consider this fundamental fact to be decided Gauss in mathematics, not philology (West, 2009).
Discussion
There are many anecdotes that show the precocity of small Gauss. At seven he entered his first school, led by one Büttner, a character who did not stand out precisely because of their pedagogical skills. This time it is said that at age 10 when he was admitted to the class of arithmetic surprised ...
