Several people in the globe are born in one state but due to some necessity or choice they move to another country in their lifetime. This decision of shifting to another state is a difficult task as these people are disconnected with their familiar social institutes and practices of culture. They are also separated from their families and feel isolated from the support in new homeland. In majority of cases, people's experiences are escorted by the acculturation. In general terms, acculturation is the process of a cultural change that takes place when two or several distinct cultural systems are merged. The dynamics can while in the selective acquisition of value systems in the process of integration and Differentiation, in the triggering of developmental steps and the effectiveness of Role components and personality factors to be seen (Smokowski & Bacallao, 2011).
People migrating from other countries bring about changes in culture and adaptation in the adopted culture. In this research we focus on the level of involvement of parents from bicultural background in their children's schooling. Furthermore, this paper analyses the impact of parents' involvement on children social and educational practices (Smokowski & Bacallao, 2011).
Literature Review
The social networking of parents and exposure to role models are affected by the social status of parents. The education level is also affected by the cultural education of parents. The level of education of parents is positively correlated with the promotion of learning of children in wide range of manners. On the other hand, parents who are migrated to another country are in between the adaptation of new culture and the old culture. They adapt to some of the cultural practices of new country however, they want their children to learn their homeland cultural practices together with their new culture (Orellana-Roldan, 2007).
For instance a Mexican Muslim family moves to America. Some of their children are born in Mexico and some of their children are American by birth. Parents will be concerned about the education of their children and their learning of old Mexican cultural practices together with American culture. These parents will have two kinds of involvement in the education of their children. They will be involved in professional schooling as well as personal schooling of their children (Olivos, 2006).
