ß2-adrenergic agonists, also known as agonists of the ß2-adrenergic receptors are a class of drugs used to treat asthma and other pulmonary disease states. Act on the beta2-adrenergic receptors, causing relaxation of smooth muscle, resulting in dilation of bronchial passages, vasodilation in muscle and liver, uterine muscle relaxation, and release of insulin.
