Introduction

The United Nations (UN) has never considered the mass murder of thousands of people and perpetration of various forms of violation regarding the human rights in Bangladesh. It was formerly known as East Pakistan until 1971. The non-response from the United Nations (UN) signifies the omission to the major responsibility and consideration of UN to promote the serious issue like human rights. UN had to take an immediate action and should have considered it as a serious responsibility that might have prevented Bangladeshi from further violations. Bangladesh has issues with their rights since 1947, the time of partition between Pakistan and India. The Bangladesh had experienced a line of intensive issues with their rights. As UN focuses on the relationship between charter's principles in order to promote the human rights of the people and international security and peace, they should consider the charter principles with respect to the domestic jurisdiction and the solutions of international conflicts regarding human rights. This research aims to explore different dynamics of human rights violation in Bangladesh, and how UN Prevention of Violent Conflict have had helped in reduction of human rights violation.

In late 1970s, there was an East-Pakistani political party known as “Awami League”, led by the person “Sheikh Mujib Rahman. The main motive of the party was to take a stand and fight for their rights. Sheikh Mujib won with majority of the seats in national assembly. But, the Pakistani government refused to accept this fact. The government of Pakistan later on, on March 25, unleashed the army against the “Awami League” and its supporters. The whole population of East Pakistan had become victim of this act. This continued until end of the December. The question arises that what United Nation could have invoked into this kind of tragic situation. Starting from that time till now Bangladesh has been dealing with intensive conflicts regarding their legal issues and human rights. This research aims to explore different dynamics of human rights violation in Bangladesh, and how UN Prevention of Violent Conflict have had helped in reduction of human rights violation.

United Nations and Bangladesh

The UN reported that the implementation of the peace agreement in the Chittagong Hill Tracts has not been fully implemented and that human rights violations continue after more than ten years since the signing of the agreement in December 1997. This agreement has ended low-intensity guerrilla wars lasted 25 years in between eleven native groups (Goma) and the government, was planned to create self-rule in the southeastern part of Bangladesh, where the population is approximately held of a million. However, a recent study conducted, ??a researcher for the United Nations, discovered a military presence and broad and continuing disputes over land in 2010, to the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
