Introduction to Counselling psychology
The world of today depicts extremely dynamic picture human livelihood. In response to that, there are ever-changing requirement for conselling career. Countinuous professional development pertains to the practice of applicable theories and changing framework of psychological development as a result of emerging changes. Therefore, the rationale of conducting CPD is fundamental to gain an insight into applied psychology. (Woolfe et al, 2009, pp. 1-2).
CPD activity
Continuous professional development encompasses of persistently maintaining the effort of acquiring and utilizing skills and knowledge that pertain to the individual profession of the individual. My activity for CPD is discussed as under;
Dysfunctional emotions and cognitive disorders in teens, adolescents and adults
CBT stands for cognitive behavioral therapy are defined as “the psycho-therapeutic approach that attempts to heal emotional dysfunction, as well as, psychological disturbances and ill-functioning of cognitive processes through different procedures”. Trauma, stress and emotional disorder, anxiety and emotional dysfunction that leads to cognitive disturbance; is a very significant cause of persistent psychotic disorder leading to psychological disease in the long term. The activity pertained to provisions of counselling services for children, teens, adolescents, as well as, the adult population.. The activity encompassed of following tasks;
Assessing the cause of trauma, stress and emotional disorder: fundamental job was to assess the actual cause that has caused Trauma, stress and emotional disorder symptoms.
Identifying the access of trauma, stress and emotional disorder: before commencing the psychological counselling, identifying the extent of impact of psychological trauma, stress and emotional disorder
Build the rationale: once the cause is identified, the responsibilities included building the rationale of trauma, stress and emotional disorder.
Diagnose the area of effect: identifying the area of trauma, stress and emotional disorder, as well as, cognitive disturbance effect, and expected psychotic disorders.
Persuasion: the most important facet of the job pertained to persuading the victim to revive life and take proactive approach towards circumstances.
Psychotherapy: after thorough psychoanalysis, it pertained to building a healing interaction between self and the victim (GMC, 2012, pp. 8-48).
The practice was based on knowledge, skills and frameworks learnt in academics. It aided me staying connected to my learning, and acquainted me to significant learning process through client exposure.
