Cefuroxime is a first generation Cephalosporin antibiotic. Its international name is Cefuroxime and its active ingredient is Cefuroxime sodium and is composed of dry matter 0.25, 0.75 and 1.5 g vials or ampoules. It acts as bactericidal and has a broad antimicrobial spectrum.
Cefuroxime is highly active against Gram-negative microorganisms (Escherichia coli and Haemophilus, Salmonella, Shebelle, enterobacteria, Proteus mirabilis, and gonococci). It is also active against gram-positive bacteria (staphylococci, streptococci).
Resistant to beta-lactamases
