Subject: Potential Solutions to the Three Ethical Issues Raised by Cattywampus, Inc

The purpose of this memorandum is to highlight the ethical issues that arrived in the Cattywampus, Inc. The three main ethical issues that have been practiced by the Cattywampus, Inc. are the ethical issues related to bankruptcy, firing the employees at a mass level, and the use of defective and the use of paid low cost raw materials in the manufacturing of body armor and armored vehicles, they were substandard. The company showed an illegal and unethical behavior in conducting business. The appropriate solution would be to pay off all the people who have been the related to these ethical problems instead of using excuses such as bankruptcy (Mackie, 1990).

Ethical Issue No 1:

Issues related to the termination of employees

The Employees termination without any fact or the bad performance notification is regarded as a failure of fulfilling the moral obligations and thus considered as an ethical issue. The Cattywampus formulated a plan that they would fire five workers without any reason. There need to be an ethical reasoning and moral intensity following scales to access the perceptions of the overall organizations. As a matter of fact there should firing employees without any reason would create negative intensions and hence would be against moral actions.

The legal issues are entirely different form the ethical issues. Company has the right to terminate any employee. The legal consideration would be different when there would a legal agreement signed between the employee and the company that the company would not terminate the employee under policies defined by the company. Cattywampus, Inc. has been offering the employees' retirement package as employees have no other option and have to accept whatever is beneficial for them. The case is just for the five employees and the company would be removed from the jurisdiction of the WARN Act. This course of action was successfully undertaken in remarkably short order. Cattywampus now had neither notice requirements under the WARN Act, nor severance liability under a now rejected collective bargaining agreement (Penguin, 1999).

Ethics, however, does not give the reality in which people live, but allows those canons of evaluation that actually happens in reality as it should be. This concept is easily understandable when it is put into the mind considering the fact that it is not always the behavior, it appears a coincidence between motivation and justification, in other words it is not always motivated to behaviors making righteous, but very often our motives are causing injustice to others. The ethics and Legal issues could be easily differentiated in their explanation in terms of agreement signed between two parties.
