Everyone involved should combine their efforts to establish a service efficient maintenance. Each member company must be receptive to this idea. It belongs to the leadership necessary to disseminate the guidelines and fully support the responsible for maintenance. The effectiveness of the system depends on good combined action of the main departments involved, and including: engineering (study, research and development), production, accounting, store, supplies and staff. Each service having its own perspective, management can act as arbitrator and add details to the plan that will lead to better results. The flexibility of operation of the service requires that the following aspects are clearly defined and fully understood: the position of maintenance in the company, the internal organization of the department, functions and responsibilities of management. Achieving these definitions as a basis for a harmonious collaboration and effectively between departments. Clearly defining the duties, limitations authority and responsibilities is particularly important that the company is greater. Frictions and misunderstandings will be avoided by establishing a structure satisfactorily through the combined efforts of those concerned.

By workload showing 1st, 2nd and 3rd line work

First line Work

In the first line workload, the emergency corrective work, these jobs are related to the actions which have to be carried out immediately or in the shift timings and are not to be rescheduled. The corrective deferred minor works also come in this first line work. Actually, in this line the major and the most important work are to be carried out, it is the emergency routine corrective work that defines what type of first line resource is. The plant works 24/7 so precautions have to be kept side-by-side. Here we are considering a food processing plant in the figure.

Second line Work

It consists of mainly the work that has the scheduling lead time of more than a day or 24 hours, the remove item work and the various preventive services and routines are carried out. It has jobs which are peculiar to the more than a day, like 2, 3 days and then remove item work is carried out by the centralized and reconditioning workshop. These emergency jobs have duration which is unpredictable and carried out during the occurrence within shift.



Third line Work

It compromises of the plant and major shutdown overhauls and any modification or the capital projects, it creates peaks that are major at the long term or medium level intervals in the resource requirement (Humann, 2009, pp.176-179).
