The Application of Sociology to Issues of Human Behaviour

Introduction

Sociology is the study of social human behaviour, this study especially examines the institutions and organizations for the development of human society, and sociology analyzes the societal segment and institution as a self contained entity, which have a relation with the society as a whole. (Collins, 1993 Pp25-45) Sociologist analyzes these phenomena at various levels and identifies the outcomes from different perspectives. With the help of their interpretation it becomes easier to sweep out the generalization of social behaviour and society. Today, sociologists uses three essential theoretical perspectives in their studies, it includes functionalist perspective, symbolic perspective of interactionist, and conflict perspective. (Wotipka 2008 Pp. 303-43) With the help of these perspective sociologist can identify the theoretical paradigms for providing the explanation of influence on society and people. These perspective can help us in explaining the phenomena that how sociological thinking can contribute to our understanding of how identity is shaped in relation to gender and race. Functionalist perspective

Functionalism explains that every feature of society is interdependent, these interdependent characteristics are essential in contributing the functioning perspective of society as a whole. Under this perspective state provides education of children; in return of the education parents of children pay taxes, which help state to keep it running. (Wasserstrom 1980, pp. 11-29)

Symbolic Interactionist Perspective

This Interactionist perspective known as symbolic interactionism helps sociologists to consider the details and symbolic attributes related to every day life. With the identification of these symbols one come to know that how these symbols are helpful for interacting with each other. (Wasserstrom 1980, pp. 11-29)

Conflict perspective

The conflict perspective deals with the class struggles this theory of class struggles has been originated from Karl Marx's theory. It is different from symbolic and functionalist perspective theory. This perspective deals with the race issue, racism issue still have a significant impact in today's society. Currently racist issues in our society were witnessed in the sports field, such as racist issue in football. These issues help us to identify racism propensity currently involved in our society. Race has a scientific link with the biology of humans; many scientific theory of race consistently results in a disputed question in order to identify the scientific foundation related to social sciences. (Wasserstrom 1980, pp. 11-29)

Discussion

In This assignment I will analyze the term race and its implication and rationality with identity, I will analyze the link by focussing on the postmodern approach, and this approach will help in providing the understanding about the identity. Before proceeding to further discussion explanation of this approach can help in providing the better understanding about relation of identity with gender and race, the concept of class, gender, and race type does not have any individual difference into an account.
