A smart card is a card in plastic or paper or cardboard, a few centimeters side and less than one millimeter thick carrying at least one integrated circuit capable of containing the information. The integrated circuit (chip) may contain a microprocessor capable of processing this information, or be limited to non-volatile memory circuits and, optionally, a safety component (memory card).
