Introduction

This paper explores how the human dimensions of wildlife management (hunter density, contact with others, perceived crowding) are related to the biological dimensions of deer management (deer population, seeing, shooting, bagging) to produce satisfying and high quality hunts. In a series of hunter density experiments at the Sandhill Wildlife Demonstration Area in Wisconsin, this study compared these relationships between hunters who held either antlerless-only (doe) or trophy buck permits.
