Article 1: Teacher-involved conversations with young children during small group activity
The main emphasis of this article is on the teacher's conversations with the young children. This article emphasizes on the problem that it is very important for teacher to monitor that that how they should communicate with the children. The article emphasizes that it is necessary for the teachers that they should keep in consideration that how they are communicating to the children in order to develop their cognitive abilities, literacy and the language.
Analysis of Research Question
The main research question in this article is that how teachers should communicate to the children in order to develop their language, literacy and the cognitive abilities. The research question developed in this article is very supportive in order to understand the main theme of the article. Through the research question, it is very easy to understand that the main emphasis of this article is on the issue that how teachers should take care of their language and conversation style. The research question section of the article makes it obvious that the article has its basis on the issue that it is necessary for the teachers to monitor the way they have conversation with the children. In order to conduct the research on the problem that how teachers should communicate with the children in order to improve their communicative competence, the author has chosen the primary research. The author in this article has made use of the interview, observations and videotaping of small group activities. The article has its basis on the qualitative study.
Qualitative research is a set of investigative techniques, whose use is widespread. It provides an overview of the behaviour and perceptions of people and allows us to study their views on a particular topic in greater depth than in a survey. It generates ideas and hypotheses that can help understand how an issue is perceived by the target population and to define or identify options related to this issue. This technique is used in many pre-test concepts (Bryman, 2004, p. 90). Qualitative research is based on semi-structured or even unstructured in which the moderator or interviewer working with a discussion guide and an interview guide developed by topic and focus of the study.
Compared to the investigative techniques of the frame, qualitative research does not use a closed questionnaire. Same is the case in this article; the author has used the open-ended questionnaires that represent that the research on this article is qualitative. The researcher has some flexibility to adapt the discussion guide or interview guide based on the responses and experiences of individual participants (Johnson, 2004, p. 14).
