Introduction

Alice Walker who was an African-American and feminist has written many novels, stories, essays and poetry books. She also wrote about the role of women in black culture and history (Gentry, 1993). Born into a peasant family in Eatonton, Georgia, United States, Walker has origins from African-American, Cherokee , Scottish and Irish . She began her studies at Spelman University (Atlanta, Georgia) and graduated in 1965 from Sarah Lawrence College (Yonkers, New York). She wrote novels of news, trials and poems. These writings highlight the struggle of women of color against the racism, the sexism and violence prevalent in American society. She proclaims openly bisexual.
