This is a drama about a family in which mental illness (madness) is thriving. One character thinks he's Teddy Roosevelt and the construction of the Panama Canal in the basement. Two characters think that they do charity poisoning lonely old men who perceive the nature of Teddy Roosevelt as a victim of yellow fever and buries them in the locks of the Panama Canal (Kesselring, 1944). These characters are perceived by neighbors as a kind and gentle soul, which is another symbol of escape from the hospital for the criminally insane. It is understandable why the family members are afraid to marry. He believes that he has no relationship to this family. They are very well written drama (Kesselring, 1944).

Arsenic and Old Lace is a story that shows the true idea of charitable activities during the two wealthy sisters.
