He investigated at Plato's Academy for about 20 years, up until Plato's death. Soon then, Aristotle went to a town in Asia Minor, called Assos, where his ally, Hermias was ruler. It was in Assos where Aristotle contacted Pythias, who is recounted as either a niece or female child of Hermias. Aristotle wed Pythias after the killing of Hermias by the Persians.
