Applying Knowledge of Quantitative Design and Analysis

Introduction

In this paper two research studies or articles are critically analyzed, compared and contrasted according to different aspects which include their rationale, results, research design, sampling procedures etc. As the names of articles could not be mentioned again and again that is why they are named as:

Article 1: Increasing the Quantity and Quality of School Leadership Candidates through Formation Experiences

Article 2: Teachers' Perception in Relation to Principles' Technology Leadership: 5 Primary School Cases In Turkish Republic of Northern.

Comparison and Contrast

Research design

Article 1

This research study is conducted under the mixed method in which both qualitative and quantitative methods are used. The categorization of the measures through the use of Kirkpatrick's (1998) model for training program assessment has ensured the comprehensive evaluation of the study. The four-level framework of Kirkpatrick's model is considered an essential tool for training programs evaluation. In quantitative method, surveys were conducted based on the 14 Item Multifactor Leadership Questionnaires while the qualitative data was collected through recording the narrative responses on those reaction surveys.

Article 2

Quantitative method is used in this research study in which surveys were conducted from teachers of two primary schools and the questionnaires were administered randomly. The data gathered through surveys is analyzed through SSPS while arithmetic mean, frequency and percentage are used to calculate other variables.

Summary of Rationale

Article 1

There are general implications attached with the use of mixed method research approach and its implications which are definite for assessing the center techniques. Though, it can be noted that utilizing mixed method sometimes makes it difficult to identify the usefulness of each methodology but the future enclosure of these methods in one research increases the credibility of the research. The multi-method approach in this particular study measures the interest of members in administrative certification attainment. For example the qualitative results present the positive reactions for many activities and the quantitative results demonstrate their feelings about the usefulness of those activities.

Article 2

The reason behind using quantitative method in this research study is that the relation between demographics of teachers and the technology leadership can best determined by quantifying their age, gender, education and seniority in the school which could not be find out through qualitative method. How their demographics effect their perceptions fro technology leadership were determined by the survey method because different aspects could influence their opinions in qualitative method. ...
