It asserts that “criminalizing the phenomena of immigration lead to separating the country from what are universal principles.” It does not contain substantive facts, may mostly illustrate the response of some Arizonans.

To persuade readers that the central values of SB1070 should be reexamined. Laws against illegal immigration seem reasonable, but the stance of SB1070 ignores human concerns that are harder to rationalize

This bill contains the amendments made to SB1070 which are intended to limit and define the role of law enforcement.

Arizona's SB 1070 is the nation's toughest bill on illegal immigration. Its aim is to identify, prosecute and deport illegal immigrants by making attrition through enforcement the public policy of all state and local government agencies. Laws against illegal immigration seem reasonable, but the stance of SB1070 ignores human concerns that are harder to rationalize. The provisions of the regulation are proposed to work together to disappoint and deter “the unlawful application and occurrence of illicit aliens and financial undertaking by illicit aliens in the joined States.”

The author notes that the fertility rate in Mexico has been decreasing significantly and is expected to continue to do so, possibly resulting in a steep decrease in the number of immigrants seeking asylum in the U.S. He puts perspective on causes for the swell in migrants in the past two decades, and notes a sharp decrease in the past two years. This article offers a broader, international perspective missing in other arguments.
