Animal of the Bible: Dorothy Pulis Lathrop

Lathrop was bestowed the very first Caldecott Medal in 1938 for her publication Animals of the Bible (1937). She mentions in her acceptance talk that she was in person captivated to the tales of the fiercer beasts, but her reviewers concerned that such pictures might scare the juvenile readers.
