Measuring unemployment is an art that can lead to very different rates. Not surprisingly, the U.S. Government using a method that excludes millions of Americans seeking employment. This lower rate is used to demonstrate that the U.S. economic system is superior to those of Europe. Their unemployment rates are the fault of unions and socialism, to ensure personal health care and paid vacations. The implication is that while many American workers lack such benefits, at least have jobs. This argument is flawed and that unemployment is measured differently. It was feared the Treasury will have to offer higher interest rates drastically to attract enough money to cover loans expected this year.
