Al Qaida's Next Major Domestic Attack on the United States of America

Introduction

Several months ago the United States Intelligence Community (IC) received a broad intelligence intercept indicating that a major domestic terrorist attack would occur against the US within 3 to 9 months. This intercept was received with some speculation from some intelligence analyst throughout the IC due to the lack of any follow on intelligence suggesting that the intercept may hold some validity. The doubts were recently dispelled when another broad intelligence intercept was received indicating that a domestic attack on the US was imminent. What was intercepted was fragmented intelligence of a signal from a senior al-Qaida member who was unaware of the interception. Intelligence analysts now believe there is a serious threat against the US in which they must do everything they can to prevent it from happening. No further indicators or intelligence have been forthcoming, except that it is known that there is an impending attack on the US mainland within 3 to 9 months, and that this intercepted intelligence is not disinformation.

Analysis of Transcripted Message

Intelligence Analysts from the CIA and the FBI work together on making sense of the intercept. The CIA and the FBI intelligence analysts assess that Al-Qaida is planning on committing a domestic terrorist attack in Times Square in New York City on December 31st, 2012 during the New Years Eve celebrations. It is assessed that five brothers of Afghan descent and living in Lebanon were issued stolen Lebanese passports containing Christian names. Their Christian names given are the following: Jack Swade, Phillip Swade, Malcolm Swade, Michael Swade, and Trenton Swade. The five brothers were then moved to Morocco to await follow on orders.

Al-Qaida arranged and paid for the five Afghan brothers to receive non-immigrant visas at the American Consulate in Casablanca, Morocco. Once the five brothers receive their visas, they will then travel to Afghanistan to visit with family and relatives before they embark on their mission to the West. After a few days in Afghanistan the five brothers will meet with al-Qaida operatives who will provide them with their follow-on orders and sneak them across the border into Pakistan. The five brothers will meet with an Al-Qaida operative in Pakistan who will arrange for them to fly out of Islamabad, Pakistan to Paris, France and then connect onto another flight heading into John F Kennedy international airport in New ...
