Administrative Structure of the Federal Government

The government of USA is called the federal government under the constitutional republic set up of fifty states of United States of America since 1787. The federal Government is comprised of three separate subdivisions, which are Legislative, Judicial and Executive. All the powers and authorities are distributed amongst the President, the federal courts and the Supreme Court as per USA's Constitution in the Congress (USA.gov, 2012).

The Executive Branch of Federal Government is comprised of the President, First Lady, Vice President, The White House and The President's Cabinet and several executive departments like of Labor, Justice, Education, Defense, Commerce, etc., Independent agencies and other committees. Legislative Branch is responsible for making laws and policies. It is comprised of Senate, House of Representatives, and supportive agencies of Congress. Judicial branch is responsible for application of laws and it is done by processing and hearing cases and making decisions based on various laws and jurisdiction. It is formed of the Supreme Court, Lower courts, special courts and supportive organizations to courts (USA.gov, 2012).

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers or USACE is one of the federal agencies of USA. It lies under the administration of Department of Defense and its army troops are comprised of 38,000 inhabitants and military workforces. That's why it is considered as one of the biggest public engineering, project and construction management agencies. It lies under the Executive Branch of the Federal Government (USA.gov, 2012).

U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, which was previously known as United States Reclamation Service. It is also one of the federal agencies that lie under US Department of Interior. It is responsible for monitoring and controlling water resource management and oversees the processes of alterations, distribution and storage projects of irrigation, water supply and hydroelectric power across USA.

U.S. Coast Guard lies under jurisdiction of Executive Department of Homeland of Security. It is also a part of US Armed forces and has an honor of being one of seven US uniformed services. Its purpose is to provide maritime, military and multi purpose service. It also has authority for maritime law enforcement. It can also work for department of Navy as per President's order (USA.gov, 2012).

U.S. Secret Service has also law enforcement authority and it operates under Executive Department of Homeland Security. Its workforce is comprised of special agents and uniformed officers. Its main responsibility is to investigate frauds in US currency and treasury instruments and prevent financial crimes, and ensures the safety and protection of key figures like president, his family, vice president etc.

Determination of Executive department or Independent Agency

Independent agencies of US government lie under Executive Branch. These agencies are independent to the extent that they are not lead by Cabinet position.
