Writing this thesis has been very demanding, challenging and time-consuming, but also remarkable, informative and above all fun. Nevertheless, it feels great to have finally completed my bachelor's or master's thesis and I am now looking forward to a nice relaxing period for recovering. It has been both advantages and drawbacks with the limited amount of earlier research conducted within this area, even though I faced serious troubles but sometimes the advantages of this research luckily were in my favor and have made this research both challenging and interesting.

ABSTRACT

In this study we try to explore the concept of “Afrikaans Speaking Whites” in a holistic context. The main focus of the research is on the political role that Afrikaans speaking whites plays in contemporary South Africa, which also help in exploring different behaviours and mindset. This dissertation explains the impact Afrikaans speaking whites have in South Africa today after the apartheid regime. Afrikaans speaking whites are also known as Afrikaners, they descended from Dutch, French, and German settlers. The research also analyzes many psychological aspects of the Apartheid and tries to gauge its effect on Afrikaners. Finally the research describes various factors which are responsible for the role played by the Afrikaans speaking whites and tries to consider different aspects like nationalism, minority and majority status, Post Apartheid effects.
