African Hall

Introduction

African Hall is the only hall from the initial California Academy of Sciences. Twenty-one dioramas organized in geographic alignment showcase a kind of climbed on and reside African animals, handcrafted rocks and plants, and meticulously decorated backdrops, giving millions of tourists an in-depth gaze into Africa's varied ecosystems.

History

The initial African Hall opened in 1934 with 24 dioramas, and it rapidly became a San Francisco icon. Leslie Simson, a San Francisco-born excavation technician, pledged $300,000 for its construction.
