The research question is one of the first methodological steps that a researcher must take when undertaking an investigation. The research question should be worded precisely and clearly (VanDeusen 2004, p. 85). The selection of the research question is the central element of both, both the quantitative research such as qualitative research and in some cases can precede the construction of a conceptual framework of the study to be performed. The likelihood of realization of the need to know about advocacy for their children increases by participation in parent support groups and subsequently, advocacy information is readily available online. The research question can be about the idea that parents of children need to empower themselves as advocates for their children in order to obtain an equitable education. The study was undertaken for a number of reasons despite the relatively rapid increase in the number of advocacy services for children and young people. Over the last decade or so, relatively little is known about the extent to which advocacy makes a positive difference to the lives of individual children or to developments in children's services more. Evidence also suggests that, in order to reduce the scope for conflict or confusion, there is a need to raise awareness about the principles and practices of advocacy among practitioners and policy makers working in the field of children's health and social care. This study sought to address these gaps in knowledge and a platform for an evidence-based debate about the future of advocacy for children and young people. The study can aim as,

Describe the variety, of advocacy services in local authorities in England.

Compare ten advocacy services, selected for their diversity in terms of geographical location, and groups of children targeted.

Describe and compare the process and impact of advocacy from the perspectives of looked after children, advocates, health and social care professionals, and parents and carers.

Investigate the impact of advocacy at the level of the child and the service level.

Identify policy and practice recommendations in relation to advocacy for children and young people.
