Introduction

Advertising can be defined as any advertisement for the public and aims to promote the sale of goods and services. It is the most used tool in capturing market segment and is fundamental to the business strategy of any company. The advertising is targeted at large groups and often resorted to when the sale directly from seller to the buyer, is ineffective (Global, 13). We must distinguish between advertising and other activities that also aim to influence public opinion as the advertising or public relations. There is a huge variety of advertising techniques, from a simple ad on a wall to a simultaneous campaign that uses newspapers, magazines, television, radio, leaflets distributed by mail and other means of mass communication.

Thesis Statement

Since its inception in the ancient world, advertising has evolved into a gigantic industry. In United States the late 1980's, spent a year at around 120,000 million dollars in advertising.

Limitations to Research

Since, the topic is fairly extensive our discussion should limit to the advertising tools and techniques used in America (Global, 13).

United States as a country

Born of one of the most significant migrations of history, different cultures have adapted, especially in major cities of the coast, almost fantastic. Since the first immigration, like a big concentration camp they were, the U.S. was hosting without hesitation, to everyone who came intending to stay. It is they, the foreigners, who have built a delightful country, the world's leading power, a fruit that sometimes seems appealing and others, an unpleasant taste (Global, 13).

This amalgam of diverse histories and varied cultures of times past, has come together in customs, habits and lifestyles that are now defined as "typically American."Perhaps one of them, the more relevant and more distinguished than the pragmatism with which the citizens of the United States lead their lives.
