Introduction

War is an armed and prolonged fight, carried on between two or more nations, causing social disruption, aggression, and high mortality. War is an actual and intentional armed conflict of communities, and can be called as political violence.The war uses Navy, army and air force to defend the nation and their territory. The effects of these wars are long-lasting and may affect both the parties causing mortality and causes devastating effects on survivors. The war that occurred between America and Britain in 1812, caused effects on both these nations. This caused losses for America; however it also caused various advantages for American Nation. The paper describes the consequent of the war and then evaluates its benefits and advantages for Americans.

The 1812 War was fought between the United States and the British Empire. The war was declaration by James Madison to save American ships. The United States fought war for several reasons, such as trade restrictions by Britain and the imprisonment of US sailors in the Royal Navy. British was supporting the Indian tribes and was using them against American, and the American desire to add Canada in their area. The British repelled American invasions from the areas of Canada. The Americans took control over the Lake Erie and western Ontario. The America ended an independent Indian state under British sponsorship, in the Midwest. General Andrew Jackson fought in the Southwest and destroyed the Creek nation. After the defeat of Napoleon, the British sent three large invasion armies. The British gained victory in the Battle of Bladensburg in 1814 and burned Washington. The American gained victory in 1815 by repulsing the British invasions from Baltimore, New York, and New Orleans (Greenblatt, & Bowman, 2009). The war was fought at sea, the British managed a blockage at the Atlantic coast. The land and naval wars were fought on the Canadian frontier, along the Saint Lawrence River and Great Lakes (Greenblatt, & Bowman, 2009).

Britain, and France were the powerful nations of the world, who had been fighting since 1793; their warfare has affected the American trade. The war began after the French Revolution when Britain united with other nations to stop French expansion. American presidents tried to keep the America impartial during these wars, but Britain and France ignored the neutral countries (Greenblatt, & Bowman, 2009).

For America, the greatest issue was Britain impressments of American sailors by the British navy. In fact, the British also frightened many United States citizens.
