James Buchanan's Administration

James Buchanan was the 15th president of America. He held the presidency from 1857 to 1861. During his stay in the office, seven Southern states seceded from the Union and the country reached nearly the brink of civil war. He strongly opposed the idea of slavery on ground of morality but was of view that institution is protected by the constitution.
