Leukemia refers to a collection of malignant diseases. Leukemia is commonly known as blood cancer. Leukemia is characterized by greatly increased production of white blood cells. These white blood cells are spreads in the bone marrow, force out the normal blood formation and usually occurs in the peripheral blood. Because of this, the body gets less oxygen, which results to an anemia (Hoffbrand, 2006).
