Headache is considered the most common patient complaint and can occur with or be a sign of an underlying disorder.

Symptoms

Headache produces unilateral, pulsating pain, which can become more generalized later. Before the attack, scintillating scotoma, hemianopsia, unilateral paresthesias or speech disorders may occur, and the patient may experience irritability, anorexia, nausea, vomiting or photophobia during it.

The pain is often severe and unrelenting. If caused by intracranial bleeding, these headaches may result in neuralgic problems, such as paresthesias or muscular weakness. Narcotics fail to provide relief in these cases. If caused by a tumor, the pain is most severe when ...
