Academic Writing as a Genre

Abstract In principle, we know that writing is a complex cognitive process that involves knowledge of the language, culture and the world. Genre is general term denoting the most important properties of the phenomena of the world and communication of arts, a combination of formal and substantive features of the product. Writing genre that is closest to the emotions, which allows expressing feelings almost directly. Academic writing means any written text that enables communication and information exchange within the academy. The purpose of this paper was to analyze academic writing as a genre by comparing it with other writing genre. Essay as type of academic writing as genre is analyzed in this paper comparing it with research article as other type of academic writing as genre. Literary genres are models of formal structure and theme of the literary work offered to the author as a scheme prior to the creation of his work

Introduction

In principle, we know that writing is a complex cognitive process that involves knowledge of the language, culture and the world. Writing is not just translating thoughts into printed signs. Writing is operating the intelligence, operations, unless applied to the particular area of ??writing. Writing is a way to learn, not a demonstration of learning. Writing is an important genre we can distinguish between two views on the use of writing, 1) the traditional use of narratives understood as "writing to show what they know", which tends to inhibit the potential to learn in the process of writing, and 2) a broader approach (holistic), we understand as "writing to learn" to improve the student's ability to think for themselves (Frayling, 2003).

Genre is general term denoting the most important properties of the phenomena of the world and communication of arts, a combination of formal and substantive features of the product. Genres creates a set of conditions, many of the works use multiple genres by borrowing and combining these conditions. Possible definition of sometimes is limited art and culture, especially literature, but the long history of the use of this concept is also found in the rhetoric. Genre is a special classification used for music, literature, and other creative pursuits. There are usually common audience, themes, etc in genre of given items. Classification of creative work is described through genre since it has certain sense of grayed boundaries. For example: in writing its horror, science fiction, and romance and in music hip-hop, rock, and blues (Nash, 2004). In short we can say that it is representation of scenes, subjects, and people from everyday life.
