CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
The pre employment medical examination is also called pre-placement examination and this examination is in order to get the healthy employee who can perform his duty in an efficient way. The main objective of this examination is that to find out that employee is capable of performing the task efficiently or not (Lipka, 2005, 36). A paradigm shift has been seen clearly in medicines over the last 20 years. Conventionally, the medical principles applications were a stagnant process and it was modified by the experience of the practitioner occasionally. Now days, the electronic databases, systematic review techniques and the economic analyses have become more and more advanced and established. Because of numerous reasons these evidence based methods have been implemented to the occupational health interventions and health risks. According to the researcher, by the implementation of these methods ameliorate the quality of prevention and this helps the practitioner to give sound advice and have the secure position professionally by providing the assured quality information (Whiddett and Kandola, 2000, 30).
The evaluation and application of the health care practices are being promoted by the evidence based medicines. Now days the awareness about giving the occupational health practice must be buttressed by the evidence. Some of the inimitable challenges are being provided by the occupational health in comparison with the clinical research. The pre employment examination is viewed as more cultural than data driven and it is very unfortunate. Health outcomes and economic results are some of the evidence that supports the pre-employment examinations.
